WIWW- floral edition

happy wednesday everyone, only 3 more days before the long, holiday weekend (i can't wait!!). i'm linking up with lindsey at the pleated poppy for another week of what i wore wednesday. i've been pretty swamped with orders and work, which means my motivation for lugging the tripod and camera outside has been low. i did however work up enough energy (i know, isn't it tough) for one day this week.

dress: express, cardigan: gap, leggings: boston store, headband: the lovely poppy

i decided to play around with some of the shop's new blossoms. i was happy with the results. they really spiff up a pair of 2 dollar sandals :-)

here's an up close picture of the headband that i'm wearing in the picture. i'm not much of a headband wearer, however this one seems to be tolerable.

happy birthday to my amazing and supportive hubby today. i tried planning ahead and cooked his favorite (lasagna) last night and i f.a.i.l.e.d. i'll just be telling him that i made lasagna casserole or chili.

if you haven't already done so, check out the fabric phone case tutorial from yesterday's post. i'm slowly growing my library of fun and simple tutorials.

hope you all have a great day, thanks for stopping by to check out my wiww post. lindsey- thanks so much for coming up with such an amazing idea. wednesday mornings are definitely easier to roll out of bed now.

tutorial- fabric covered cell phone case

my cell phone case needed a little revamping, so i came up with this fun and easy project).
skill level: easy
time: 30 minutes (2 hours including dry time)
supplies: cell phone case, cardboard, fabric, mod podge

1) start by peeling off the old backing (if your case had one)

2) trace the old backing onto a piece of cardboard. if your case did not happen a backing before, measure/trace your current case
3) trace onto the back of the fabric
4) cut out your fabric

4) cover the back of the case with a thin layer of mod podge
5) immediately cover the modge podge with your fabric cutout. make sure to apply smoothly, if you get a few bumps take off quickly and repeat step 4.

6) allow 10-15 minutes to dry. afterwards apply a thin layer of modge podge over the top of the fabric.
7) allow 5-10 minutes to dry (it should look almost clear before applying another coat) and apply another coat.
8) TA DAAAAAAAAA
wait patiently for 1-1.5 hours before using.

instaFriday

happy friday my dear blogging friends. i'm linking up with jeannett @ life rearranged for instaFriday. i didn't do so great taking a lot of pictures this week, so i'm cheating by using pictures from a week fews ago.

i love this picture.. my adorable little grandma getting a few kisses from bailey.

we had a bridal shower for my dear sister in law a few weeks ago. my other dear sister in law made these AWESOME cut out cookies!! the theme of the shower was sailing.

my dear husband, enjoying some dinner.

baby sephra, wearing one of the lovely poppy's headbands. i love this little lady.

oh dear; this was from a bachelorette party recently. pedal taverns are quickly becoming popular in milwaukee. it's basically a cable car and bike combined with alcohol. a combination of pedaling one of these guys around town and being out until bar close= a few days to bounce back. oh i'm getting old.. and starting to sound like my mother.

lastly, is one of the only pictures i took this week. i'm really pleased with how these necklaces and headbands turned out. they're listed in the shop and ready to ship!
i've been trying to do a better job of blogging and not just listing pictures and information about new additions to the shop. i feel like i'm doing a better job, but still have a lot of room for improvement. my goal is to get another tutorial up next week.
..it would however make my happy if you would follow me. i mean really happy, so happy i would dance around in circles all weekend :-)

wiww- silly las vegas edition

b and i [finally] went on our honeymoon this year. my lovely sis-in-law got us a great deal on a trip to las vegas, where we stayed at the flamingo.

while on vacation..
-i decided i will never leave bailey for more than 3 days in a row. i was a nervous wreck with her away from us. i know, i know she's just a dog- but she's like a child to me.
-hotel pillows really gross me out, i think i'll bring along a really puffy fleece jacket or something next time.
-i trust strangers way too much.
-going out to eat is definitely my favorite thing to do!! if i could only find a job that required me to go out to eat and craft with children with autism i would be in heaven. i'll start working on that?? :-)

dress: calvin klein, shoes: nine west, hairtie: target :-)
love my new purchase from the kate spade outlet. i could spend a few paychecks in this store.
the next two pictures are the reason for the "silly" title. i was in a strange mood most of the trip and was determined to get a few wiww pictures in; regardless if they were a little odd.

dress: boston store, leggings: target, belt: gap, scarf: boston store, husband's hand: sheboygan falls, wi

striped top: express, jeans: gap.. how's my form??

instaFriday

happy friday! i'm linking up with jeannett over at life rearranged for this instaFriday this week.

beautiful flowers from the public market, i wanted to take them home.. but b is allergic to most flowers.

autism awareness headbands that i donated to a local benefit. i'll go more in depth about it in another post, but autism is one of my BIGGEST passions in life.

this is what b came home to at lunch on wednesday. he sent this picture to me at work and instead of getting mad, i couldn't help but think of how much fun she must of had doing this and her reaction when he walked in the door.

popcorn is one of my favorite foods, but put it in a room with a lot of my other favorite foods and i'll just take a picture of it.
hope you all have a great weekend!!

tutorial- scrap fabric dog collar

i'm happy to share with you one of my favorite projects. if bailey could talk, i think she'd agree that this is her favorite collar.

skill level: easy peasy
time: 30 minutes
supplies: dog collar and scrap fabric
 1) cut scrap fabric into skinny strips. i've found that 5 inches by 3/4 inches works best, but it will look great whichever way you choose. if you do less than 4 inches it gets difficult to tie in a knot.

 2) start tying the fabric strips onto the collar. i like doing the knot on the outside, but either way works. at the bottom of the post there's a picture of how the knots on the inside look.
 3) make sure the side without the knot is flat without wrinkles or twists.
 4) continue tying strips throughout the collar. i recommend scrunching them together tightly, so that you can add a variety of colors.

 5) your collar will look like this once the strips cover the entire collar.
 6) trim down the strips with a scissors for a nice, clean look.

ta-da!! you now have a fancy, unique dog collar

here's a picture of a previous collar that i made that had the knots on the inside. i think they both look nice, but i prefer the ones with the knots on the outside. which one do you prefer?

WIWW

i'm linking up with lindsey at the pleated poppy for another inspiring week of what i wore wednesday. my neighbors have enjoyed watching me carry the tripod outside. the weather has been very cooperative, so i've been able to wear dresses and shorts. one of the benefits of being tall is finding a lot of catalog returns on clearance. i definitely lucked out at gap last week; there's nothing i love more than a good deal (okay, you're right.. there's a few things i love more).

i really need to use an iron..
dress: target
belt: nine west
necklace: the lovely poppy

prepare yourself for the next one..
i didn't try this one on before purchasing it and it certainly will be going back to the racks soon. i had this outfit on for about 5 minutes and couldn't keep a straight face. i felt like a bird.
dress: the gap
necklace: the lovely poppy

bawk, bawk, bawk (my attempt at a bird noise)

yesterday was one of the few days that i was able to wear jeans to work. i've been searching for the perfect "dressy" pair of jeans to pull off at work more often, but haven't had a lot of luck. if anyone can find a pair of "dressy" yoga pants- you'll be my favorite forever.
top: victoria secret
jeans: banana republic
scarf: boston store
brooch: the lovely poppy

that's all i have for wiww this week. in other news, i'm planning my first tutorial post for later this week. stay tuned. here's a sneak peak..
