summer sand candle

today i'm sharing one of my favorite last minute summer projects. i was honored to share this as a guest post at hidden cupcakes and am happy to share it with you today.

i love anything fruity and love walking into a good smelling room. the tutorial below is for a summer sand candle. i picked banana as my scent, but you could pick any scent you'd like. with fall just around the corner i am planning on making a few pumpkin candles.

the entire project only takes about 10 minutes and it's super easy. you'll need a waxed wick (i used 3, but you can use as many as you'd like, unscented wax crystals, fragrence, a glass dish, and a hot glue gun. the wick, crystals, and fragrence were bought at hobby lobby (for 50% off, they have sales quite frequency on this stuff) and the dish was from the dollar tree.

1) glue the wicks to the bottom of the dish. the spacing is up to you if you use more than one. i wouldn't recommend using more than 3, because it will burn really fast.
 2) place the crystals and the fragrance in a ziploc bag. mix/shake for about 2 minutes.
 3) if you like the sand look, pour it directly into the dish. if you would like to melt it first, follow the directions on the bag and then pour into the dish.
and that's it- you now have a homemade candle, piece of cake!
